Special Care

Elsberry Health Care Center offers Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Psychological Therapy, and Restorative Nursing services as each resident's Physician orders. This also includes services for patients transitioning from hospital to home.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy services consist of a variety of treatments intended to increase strength and mobility and decrease pain and discomfort. Upon a written physician's orders, an evaluation, and treatment, if appropriate, are initiated. Therapy needs are continually monitored and modified to provide optimum care to assist the resident in achieving his/her maximum rehabilitation potential.

Occupational Therapy

Through Occupational Therapy, the residents and caregivers learn which adaptive devices and aids will assist with self-care tasks and help them become easier to perform, such as transferring and positioning techniques that improve safety and reduce pain and ways to identify, reinforce, and maintain self-sufficiency.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy services are provided by a licensed, certified Speech Language Pathologist and prescribed by the attending physicians. All treatments are designed to help the residents improve and/or maintain communicative effectiveness and swallowing ability.

Psycho Therapy

Psycho Therapy services are available by a licensed, certified Psychotherapist who provides counseling services as needed for a resident's psychological and emotional well-being.

Restorative Nursing

Restorative Nursing is the provision of services whereby each resident is provided the ability to increase functional levels of activities in daily living and to prevent complications associated with inactivity. Restorative Nursing includes: promoting proper body alignment, pressure sore prevention, range of motion exercises, use of self-help devices, promoting the independence of activities in daily living, bowel and bladder retraining programs, and re-motivational activities.
